Ben Goodridge MSc, BSc (Hons), Dip ST
Professional Background:
Before qualifying as a sports therapist Ben worked within the health and leisure industry accumulating over 10 years experience of exercise prescription as an instructor, including five years as fitness manager. Ben qualified from University College Chichester after completing a three-year BSc Sports Therapy degree, where he was awarded a 1st class (Honours). He then spent a successful 2004 season at Hampshire County Cricket Club, as the therapist for the second XI team and continued this role for 2005 & 2006 seasons. This led to him being invited to work with the England Cricket Team during their successful 2005 Ashes warm-up games. Following University he was invited to the USA for a three-month internship at Virginia Commonwealth University where he was based in the sports medicine department. While there he worked as the senior therapist for their soccer team (they finished the season ranked 7th nationally, their most successful season ever). Upon returning to the UK, he set up and ran his own private clinic in Portsmouth, while also working in the physiotherapy department at St Richards Hospital Chichester and a specialist podiatry sports shop. Finally he was the first Sports Therapist to be enrolled onto the MSc in Sports Medicine course at Trinity College in Dublin, which he completed in 2007.
Sporting Background:
Ben has always been actively involved in sport and has also entered extensive challenges, including a three-day self-sufficient race across Dartmoor, ‘team’ 90mile runs, and the three-peak challenge of Great Britain. He has completed several marathons, including London twice, and recently completely the London Classics by finishing the Swim Serpentine and Ride 100 cycle events. More recently he has completed various triathlon events including Sprint, Olympic and half ironman distances. Other interests include photography and travelling including extensive trips to Australasia, Kenya and Europe so far. Future aspirations are to complete a full Ironman event, though he is equally happy walking the family dog and enjoying time with his young family at home.
